Restorative treatment refers to the restoration of natural teeth that have been damaged, decayed, or lost. Treatment includes amalgam (silver) fillings, white (composite) fillings, and CEREC porcelain inlays and onlays. These treatments will last for many years, but sometimes fillings break down. It is not uncommon for older fillings to need replacement. CEREC inlays and onlays do not break down the same way fillings do. There are advantages and disadvantages to each material. You and your dentist will discuss your options in detail and decide on the best course of treatment.
